Interviewer (it's just me): Hi Dana, it's lovely to meet you. Can you tell me a little bit about where you grew up and how you got into acting?
Dana (also me): Thank you so much for having me! I was born and raised in Central, NJ (yes it exists!!). I've sung since I could speak and was in dance classes at the age of 5, but I actually didn't start acting until high school. My first role was a secretary in How to Succeed [In Business Without Really Trying] and the following year I landed the lead in Singin' in the Rain. I guess you could say once I was bit by the theatre bug, I was infected.
Interviewer: I'll have what she's having! You graduated from Hofstra University with a BFA in 2019. What have you been up to since?
Dana: After graduating, I landed a few gigs including an Off-Broadway musical and the Polar Express Train Ride [of which she has been a part of for the past 4 Christmas seasons]. The pandemic put a kink in my momentum, but didn't that happen to all of us? Like everyone, I'm on that grind and I'm just excited to see what the future holds!
Interviewer: I can't wait to see what's in store for you. Tell us a little bit about what your life outside of the theatre looks like - what are your hobbies?
Dana: Well on an average day, you can find me working at the TKTS booth in Times Square, chitchatting about all things Broadway. Other than that, I'm usually forcing my love onto my cat Pie who could not care less about my happiness and wellbeing. I'm also a member of Garden State Roller Derby! My derby name is Booty Garland, and I am usually falling on my booty. OH - also I sell profane greeting cards on Etsy [CouchPotatoGreetings], but that's a story for another time.
I actually have a question for you [Interviewer] before we go!
Interviewer: Oh, okay shoot!
Dana: You make a PB&J, then make another PB&J, then put a layer of PB&J between those 2 sandwiches. So, you have 2 PB&Js with another layer of PB&J in between. 4 slices of bread, 3 layers of PB&J. Is that a double-decker or a triple-decker?
Interviewer: I guess I'd have to say triple.
Dana: Correct, very good. No further questions, your honor.
